Regarding the question of the episode title, you are right to refer back to 1883, but off on “the dream.” The dream is simply all you desire: Love, a home, family, but in 1923 the dream is very specific. Memories are lived life. The merging of dreams and memories is heaven (according to Elsa), but the question is What is heaven? It’s certainly NOT the ranch, or much of anything here on earth, as the title of the final 1883 episode emphatically states: This is Not Your Heaven. You have your memories, but dreams are just that, and often not realized. 1923 is the story of the tragic romance — all of Yellowstone can be called a tragic romance — of Spencer and Alex. The dream was Spencer’s, that his beloved Alex was his to keep. The dream wasn’t realized because of the fight over the ranch. So all he had was his memories of Africa and the torch he carried for love of Alex for 45 years.
